City of McKeesport issued the following announcement on May 4.

Mayor Michael Cherepko joined the Allegheny Regional Asset District board of directors for a web-based meeting to discuss future projects at Renziehausen Park. While City Administrator Tom Maglicco and others share updates with RAD on an annual basis, the mayor provides an in-depth look at his long-term plans for the park every five years.
With RAD’s capital support, the City is in its second year of Cherepko’s five-year plan. In 2021, with COVID delays in 2020’s capital projects, the Charles D. Lickert Walking Trail was reconstructed. In 2022, improvements will be made to the Lions Bandshell and dek hockey complex. In 2023, the goal is to partner with Penn State Greater Allegheny and other entities to redesign Helen Richey Field. In 2024 and 2025, if not sooner, lighting improvements will be made at various ball fields.
“As we look ahead at the next five years, it’s important to understand that these priorities may shift to address other needs,” Cherepko said. “But if we start with a clear set of goals, we know we are making Renzie Park the best, well-rounded asset it can be for all of its visitors from McKeesport and across Allegheny County.”
