CHATHAM UNIVERSITY: Chatham recognized as a Tree Campus for the eighth consecutive year

Tree

Chatham University issued the following announcement.

For the eighth year in a row, Chatham University has received the Tree Campus USA recognition for the commitment shown by the University for promoting healthy trees and engaging students and staff in the spirit of conservation.

In order to receive this distinction, Chatham has met the five core standards for sustainable campus forestry required by Tree Campus USA, including establishment of a tree advisory committee, evidence of a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance and the sponsorship of student service-learning projects.

Created in 2008 by the Arbor Day Foundation, Tree Campus USA honors colleges and universities with a sustained commitment to environmental stewardship. Currently, there are only 346 campuses across the United States with this recognition.
