DUQUESNE UNIVERSITY: Duquesne Recognized for Exemplary Transfer Pathways

Honor

Duquesne University issued the following announcement on April 07.

Duquesne University has been named to Phi Theta Kappa's (PTK) 2020 Transfer Honor Roll, which recognizes excellence in developing pathways for transfer students to succeed.

"This recognition shows the commitment the entire campus has made to assist transfer students in all aspects of their process-from applying to financial aid, transfer credits, retention and more," says Jeff Ptak, associate director of undergraduate admissions at Duquesne.

The Transfer Honor Roll recognizes 123 four-year colleges and universities that have developed transfer pathways that lead to excellence and success among community college transfer students. Colleges were selected based on their Transfer Friendliness Rating, which is determined by the Transfer Profile they create in PTK Connect.

PTK Connect is Phi Theta Kappa's online tool that helps students find their best-fit colleges, career pathways and more. Students can search for colleges by name, scholarship offerings, or cost, and they can use the institutions' profiles to help evaluate where they'd like to enroll.

Students can see some of this data on the colleges' profiles, enabling them to assess what the college does to support transfer students, see the number of transfer students enrolled at that college and determine whether the school could be a good fit.

Each year, more than 250 transfer students make Duquesne their school of choice to earn their degree.

"Duquesne the perfect fit for me. I have made lifelong friends and memories that I will be forever grateful for," says Hannah Velasquez, a sophomore transfer student from Germantown, Md. "From those in the transfer admissions office, to my academic advisor, to the first friends that I made on campus, every one of them made me feel at home and welcomed like I never had at my old school."
