Bethel park School District issued the following announcement on June 5
An Open Letter To The Bethel Park School District Community:
The recent local and national protests over the past two weeks have refocused our country’s attention to the importance of addressing the issues of racial injustice, hatred and violence.
The Bethel Park School District mourns with those who have been negatively impacted by these issues, as we pledge our continued efforts to promote peace, understanding and acceptance for all.
As educators, we strive to ensure welcoming, inclusive, and safe learning environments for all of our students and families. We are committed to providing a nurturing environment in all of our schools where each and every child is respected and valued as an individual, regardless of skin color, gender, orientation, ability or disability, or any other category.
We stand together against acts of prejudice and racism, as we desire for all students to be treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. Educational equality is a right to be enjoyed by all students.
We will continue to work together to build upon the programs we already have in place to cultivate a learning environment that encourages all students to express themselves, develop skills, showcase their talents, and learn the importance of being supportive of and kind to one another.
It will take a unified team effort to be successful, and we look forward to continuing this partnership with everyone in the community to help our students to create a brighter and better future for themselves and the world around them.
Sincerely,
Joseph C. Dimperio, PhD
Interim Superintendent
