Community College of Allegheny County issued the following announcement.
Community College of Allegheny County students who have been impacted by the COVID–19 pandemic can get financial help this fall through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The funds can assist with such necessities as food, housing, course materials, laptops or other technology needs, health care and child care.
“CCAC is committed to providing a safe, welcoming and supportive learning environment—one where all students have access to an affordable, top-notch education that will put them on a path to a successful future,” said CCAC President Dr. Quintin Bullock.
This funding is intended specifically for students who have been impacted by COVID–19. To be eligible for the CARES Act emergency funding, students must be enrolled in an approved degree program, be eligible for Title IV Financial Aid by completing the 2020-21 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.
In addition to CARES Act funding, CCAC students can also apply for a variety of federal and state financial aid funds including grants, scholarships, work-study programs and direct student loans. CCAC Financial Aid representatives are available Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to assist via phone, email and virtual appointments.
