Duquesne University issued the following announcement.
Duquesne University's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is now offering free consultation on health compliance and wellness through its new Healthy Work Place Initiative.
The initiative is designed to assist small businesses in all aspects of developing, implementing and evaluating their business from a heath compliance and wellness perspective.
"The COVID-19 pandemic has made many small businesses realize they were not proactively prepared to confront the situation," says Marla Breitbarth, Healthy Workplace business consultant in Duquesne's SBDC. "Small businesses have historically not had the discretionary margins to pay for such services. It's now more important than ever that small business owners pay attention to health, safety, prevention and regulatory aspects of their employees and businesses."
Regulations from organizations like Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Center for Disease Control-while understood by small businesses owners-have not received focused attention in small business education. This is largely due to the expense often associated with providing such services to the small business community.
"This program is offered at no cost to make health and wellness compliance accessible to all small business owners," says Rich Longo, director of Duquesne's SBDC. "The goal is to help small businesses cultivate happier, healthier and safer employees."
