Steel Valley School Board Director Colette Youngblood has been recognized by the PSBA for her service on the board and to the Steel Valley community.
The Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania School Board Association has recognized Steel Valley School Director Colette Youngblood with its Honor Roll of Service award. The certificate honors school board members for their, “ongoing school board service and the long-term contributions of individuals who bring their energy, talent and values to the guidance of youth and public education in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Ms. Youngblood’s tenure on the Steel Valley School Board is coming to an end after 12 years of service. She served two years as President of the School Board and two years as Vice President. She served as Co-Chairperson of the Educational Leadership Committee, Chair of the Operations Committee, Chair of the Personnel Management Committee and Co-Chair of the Co-Curricular Leadership Committee. In addition, she served as a member of the Special Assignments Committee, Liaison to the State Legislature, member of the District Advisory Council, Legislative Liaison for PSBA and the PSBA Representative for the Steel Valley Board of School Directors.
Ms. Youngblood was recognized for her service at the Steel Valley School Board meeting on Thursday, October 28. During the meeting, she was presented with a resolution nominating her as a “Friend of Steel Valley.” Recipients of the proclamation are presented with a Steel Valley Gold Card and a certified copy of the resolution naming them a “Friend of Steel Valley”. A shelf of books will be placed in the high school library in their honor.
Two other outgoing board members were similarly recognized as “Friends of Steel Valley.” Mr. William Blick and Ms. Kathy Ligeros, who each spent four years on the board, were also nominated and presented with a special commemoration of their service.
Mr. Blick served as the Chair of Financial Management Committee; Co-Chair of Personnel Management Committee; Co-Chair of Co-Curricular Committee and served as Legal Relations Representative.
Ms. Ligeros served as District Representative to Steel Center Career & Technical Education and to Southeastern Special Schools. She served as Chairperson and Co-Chairperson of the Special Assignments Committee, Co-Chairperson of the Financial Management Committee and Chairperson of the Communications and Technology Committee for the Steel Valley Board of School Directors.
Steel Valley School District is a public school district in Allegheny County that serves the communities of Homestead, Munhall, and West Homestead. The district consists of Steel Valley High School, Steel Valley Middle School, Barrett Elementary School, and Park Elementary School.
