WASHINGTON, D.C.— On May 25, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced $1 million in federal investments to clean up brownfield sites in his western Pennsylvania district. The recipients are two sites, one across the entire Borough of Ambridge ($500,000) and the second is Beaver County’s Darlington Brickyard ($500,000). This increased funding from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will help expedite the assessment and cleanup of these brownfield sites across western Pennsylvania.
"The people of Western Pennsylvania should expect to live free from fear of contaminated sites,” said Rep. Deluzio. “An important step toward achieving that goal is cleaning up brownfield sites throughout our communities. I am grateful that President Biden’s Infrastructure Law will send $1 million to my district to do just that.”
These two projects are part of a $315 million, 262 communities, 267 grant investment in competitive brownfield funding made possible by the historic boost from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The fund is called the Multipurpose, Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup (MARC) Grant program.
In addition, the EPA is announcing $45 million in non-competitive supplemental funding to 22 successful existing Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) Grant programs to help expedite their continued work at sites across the country by extending the capacity of the program to provide more funding for additional cleanups. EPA is also announcing selections of five Brownfields Technical Assistance Providers and three recipients of Brownfields Research Grants, who are receiving $55 million to strengthen technical assistance.
More details about this funding announcement are available on the EPA’s website.
